Slave to Christ

This trip to St. Louis has been incredibly trying for me, in many ways that need not be listed. Only one thing is important, and that is this lesson:

My life is not my own — it belongs to Jesus, who has redeemed it, paid for it, bought it with His blood. I am purchased. Therefore, I am a slave to Christ and to His will, and I will necessarily do whatever He pleases. My time is purchased, so if he wants me to spend it trying to calm a crying baby, so be it. If I am to survive motherhood/marriage/life, I must learn to grasp this simple, yet difficult truth.

“… Be obedient … as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. With good will, render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.” Ephesians 6:5-8 (pieces)

PS — Still no teeth. A cold, but no teeth. 😛

  1. Jamie, This slave-to-Christ, dying-to-self thing is so very hard. Your post made me think of Luke 17:10, ‘So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’”’ According to this verse we cannot even pat ourselves on the back for a job well done. Truly, our slavery to Christ is by His grace alone.

I find that God brings you to mind often and I pray for you. I find you to be a kindred spirit.
