Mosaic Life: a song for recent times

I don’t really know why I titled this post Mosaic Life, it just sort of flowed out of my fingertips, perhaps with the thought in mind that I might continue to write in this vein — sharing little pieces of me and the things that are bringing peace, joy, meaning to my life, making it pretty.

It seems these days I’ve been swept away by God, in a very good and amazing way.  I didn’t know I was such an external processor, but each time God teaches me something new, big or little, I feel like it isn’t real unless I share it with everyone that’s important to me..  which is impossible at this current rate.  So here, I’ll share pieces.  This is a song I’ve loved for a long time, but has given my heart renewed bounce lately.  May it open your heart to God’s healing hand TODAY, if even in a small way!

Less Like Scars (Sara Groves)

It’s been a hard year
But I’m climbing out of the rubble
These lessons are hard
Healing changes are subtle
But every day it’s

Less like tearing, more like building
Less like captive, more like willing
Less like breakdown, more like surrender
Less like haunting, more like remember

And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands, a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
Look less like scars and more like
Character

Less like a prison, more like my room
It’s less like a casket, more like a womb
Less like dying, more like transcending
Less like fear, less like an ending

And I feel you here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands, a bad situation
But you are able
And in your hands the pain and hurt
Look less like scars

Just a little while ago
I couldn’t feel the power or the hope
I couldn’t cope, I couldn’t feel a thing
Just a little while back
I was desperate, broken, laid out, hoping
You would come

And I need you
And I want you here
And I feel you

And I know you’re here
And you’re picking up the pieces
Forever faithful
It seemed out of my hands, a bad, bad situation
But you are able

And in your hands the pain and hurt
Look less like scars

And more like
Character

  1. I love this song, Jamie. Many of Sara Grove’s songs touch my soul. I just got her new CD, and haven’t listened long enough for them to draw me in yet. But give them time!
